Sean Shteingart, founder of Prepare Little Patients
Our story

Founded by someone who remembers exactly what it felt like.

Prepare Little Patients was founded by Sean Shteingart, a current student at the University of Pennsylvania originally from the Bronx.

Growing up with persistent ear infections, Sean spent more time in doctor's offices and waiting rooms than most kids. When he needed surgery to get tubes inserted in his ears as a young child, he remembers the doctors explaining the procedure to his parents in the hallway, and nobody quite finding the words to explain it to him. He was wheeled into the operating room more scared of the unknown than of the actual procedure.

Years later, Sean kept noticing the same gap: kids handed the same clinical pamphlets as their parents, expected to feel calm about words they'd never heard before. So he started sketching what would become the first Pocket Learning Playbook, the one he wishes someone had handed him before his own ear tube procedure.

"Prepare Little Patients fills the space between what doctors know and what a nine-year-old can understand — one crayon at a time."
